Meet Seth - Avid Outdoorsman and Artist.

I have always had a driving creative energy which has fueled my artwork, building, making, and creating combined with a passion for the outdoors focused on everything fishing and water. Looking to lead an adventurous and interesting life, I haven’t made a living as an artist (and still don’t) but have always been involved with the creation of artwork fueled by an insatiable quest to grow as an artist. I’ve currently been focusing on better organizing my fishing artwork while also making it visible beyond the walls of my own home.

I’ve had many jobs such as a construction worker during college, musician, scientist, engineer, starting new companies and working within a university setting. Throughout, I’ve found that the main driver for me is the desire to build new things and am happiest when they rely on my creativity. This always brings me back to art, while the lessons throughout my career have helped guide me, the creation of drawings, paintings, photos and even music (I am a classically trained guitarist) has been the central theme which provides the greatest joy. Combined with the outdoors and a love for fishing; my artwork aims to bring these all together.

My first fishing started when my dad bought me a daffy duck fishing pole when I was two. He was an avid outdoorsman and I would be by his side for many fishing and hunting adventures for many years. I learned that everything in nature wakes up early and the best light is often not reflected on my pillow. One of his main pursuits was fly fishing, guided by a close older friend Hank who traveled with Lee Wulff and Lefty Kreh. Hank took me under his wing and would often take me fishing while my dad was at work, teaching me to not only flyfish with a lifetimes knowledge but also to tie flies. I’ve since tied thousands of flies and caught countless trout. Here, I aim to connect these experiences together and bring the enjoyment of being outdoors on a stream, river, or ocean to illustrations and artwork.

I am hopeful that the artwork inspires you to either remember good times outdoors or even to get out in the present moment. Please contact me anytime and I look forward to hearing from you.
